I was looking at the Best Buy blue label HP and it looks like a decent computer. Does any one have any thoughts on the Blue Label. Is it quality or gimmick?

judging by my initial review, it looks quite good. look at the link. not only is the mac more expensive, but the hp blow's it away in terms of hardware specs.

anyway. i would do this ---

look in the coupons area of this site to find a 30% off coupon. hp released these few weeks so definitely keep an eye out.

spec out a custom laptop on hp's site then buy it with the coupon code.

i say that because you can spec something much better than the blue label and probably get it cheaper with the 30% off.

the blue label isn't so bad though. if it's for a regular, ie non power user, then it's a solid machine.

they compared the macbook to a HP Blue Label DV3510NR, and I feel the HP is far more superior.

HDMI, eSata, 3USBs, blu-ray upgradable, backlit keyboard for $25 unlike Macbook having to go all the way to e $1599 model for one. havinng to spend another $29 or $99 for vga/dvi display port adaptor is shameless, carrying 1 more thing while on the go is nuisance.

only thing going for Macbook is OSX and perhaps the unibody, but the dv3500t body isnt bad at all.

to add...i do like the 9400M on the macbook but it has better use on the Macbook Pro paired with a 9600M GT.

i love macs but just dislike the price. that's the biggest turn off for me. i paid less than $1600 for a decked out dv7t.

a comparable macbook would be almost 3 grand. trust me, i checked. 320gb hard drive, 2.5ghz cpu, 4gb ram in a macbook and the cost was like $2850....

to me, software isn't much without beefy hardware powering it. i feel like i pay 90% of my $ for the firepower / horsepower the machine comes with. i dont feel right spending so much on a mac and not getting some crazy specs in return.

i duno, maybe it's just me. i love macs though but i dont think i'll buy one due to the price vs. hardware.

I just returned a macbook pro (late 08) for a Dv3510nr blue label notebook and am pretty pleased with the notebook and the savings.

Be warned: the promised 2 year warranty doesn't seem to exist. Hp claims it is a one year and best buy says to take it up with HP. I'm still investigating...

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Does any one know if backlit keyboard is an option you can choose from HP when ordering?

I am seriously considering the Blue Label.

Backlit keyboard was a $25 option on the HP site with many other customization options till they pulled it off the site...

apparently Best Buy got into a deal with em to sell it exclusively.

there is no doubt there is a 2 year warranty on this from best buy, anyone from best buy or HP whom says no ought to be fired when a normal consumer can get the information straight off the net. besides i have a paper that came in the box that says it has a 2 year manufacturer warranty despite the bottom of the notebook having the 1 year standard warranty sticker.

The backlit keyboard is a big deal to me. I will be in a lot of low light situations also the battery life is advertised as pretty high. Is that a true estimate. Has anyone put it to the test?
