I am almost sure those are stuck pixels. That is when a pixel is stuck a certain color. Unfortunatly, those are common on laptop LCD's or any LCD's for that matter. My laptop screen had three green ones close together then I first got it.

Manufacturers would only fix the screen if it had a certain amount of stuck pixels. I think HP/Compaq will replace the screen as they are close together.

I've also heard of several people fixing the problem rubbing the screen to make them go away. But I've also heard that some who tried that caused even more stuck pixels.

I suggest you call HP and be persistent, and they will probably replace your screen for free. You may just have to may for shipping.

Well, my Fujitsu Lifebook P5020D with the stuck pixels also was under warranty but they still charged me $17 for shipping.

They shipped it back to me 10 days later with the screen fixed. But after 20 minutes of using it, a bright red stuck pixel showed up smack dab in the middle of the screen! That made me very, very angry. [} :)][ :(!][} :)][ :(!]

that's just really odd, and you're right that's not a dead pixel issue, it looks like somebody took three of their fingers and pushed hard against the LCD and maybe caused whatever this phenomenon is. I guess looking on the brightside, you only see it when the screen is dark, but still that must be annoying.

Well I got it back today and they didn't fix it, unless I wanted to pay $600.
When I talked to them on the phone they said the would fix it so I called them back and they said they only cover things like the motherboard not the lcd screen.
Oh well it's not that bad I can live with it.

Never seen them that big. Friends of mine had pixel problems and they were persistent with the manufacturer and they replaced them.

My Pavillion had one right in the middle of the screen when I took it out of the box. It never really bothered me so I just left it. I'm sure HP wouldn't have done anything anyway.
