I have a HPDV6000T customized. It has bluetooth but will not recognize my bluetooth phone. The phone is a Sony Ericsson w580i and i turned on the bluetooth device and the visibility. I than go into the control panel and activate bluetooth, after a pause of about 20 seconds this message shows up
    Bluetooth Device Not found
Please verify your bluetooth device is connected and turned on?

Is there something more I have to do here to get this to work?

    Also this side question:
My computer is top heavy (I have the 12 cell battery) and so whenI try to lift the lid, the whole computer lifts up and than the bottom half (with keyboard) slams down. Not very hard, and it only happens when I'm in a rush, what can I do to fix this?

Also, what can I do about all the fingerprints on the top lid?

Make sure the wireless switch is turned on (blue light). Then check the device manager and see if you have an ! devices. Also look to see if the bluetooth adapter shows up in there.

Hold it down with your other hand.

Wipe it down with a dry cloth.

i got it to finally recognize the phone but still not able to do any file transfer
i know thats one solution for a top heavy lid, but is there a permanent solution that people have been using
and is there a cover to keep fingerprints off the lid?

That's a problem with your phone, not the laptop I think. Sorry I can't help more there.

You could strap it down to the desk.

Then you'll need a way to clean the cover...

the fingerprints are really ruining the look of hps imprint design.

I got the phone to sync, files transferred but now this question
Is there anyway to speed up a bluetooth connection to make it as fast as a direct connection with a cable

No, you can't really, you can try holding it closer to the laptop, but I highly doubt that would work but the best way to get stuff on your phone is buy using a memory card and reader or a USB cable

fingerprints...thats why HP supplies the little cloth with your lappy, so we can keep wiping our precious machines like they were an expensive fashion item..
