Has anyone ever used a bluetooth headset with a laptop, or can you?
i tried this one:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8048686&type=product&id=1158316174515
its just a $20 one, but i got it to work with my phone, but couldnt get anything to work on my computer. the two could see eachother but could never get any audio.
so now i do actually need a headset, and i'm thinking about this one:

will that work, or should i just buy a normal computer usb style headset? thanks!
(and yes this is for skype, although it'd be cool to listen to music on the headset)

You need to change headset in audio setting from control panel after installing drivers.
-
yea, the problem was that it never showed up as a device for some reason. just the usual speakers, hdmi, and headphone jacks was all that was there.

is windows detecting the bluetooth headset?
-
it detected it but it never showed up on the device list. ima buy a different one this time and ima try it out.

does dv5t come with integrated bluetooth?
It's never advertised as a feature -
its an option if you buy a custom made one from HP
-
Bluetooth is standard in all of the Australian versions. All the ones we sell at work including my DV5-1055tx comes with bluetooth.

does any1 know if the HP mini note 1000 from best buy has bluetooth? i might be buying one, and idk. it says no on their site, but the one in the store appears to have the module installed. any ideas?

You can always get nano BT USB dongles. -
im almost positive this is the one at the store (i do work there):

it just seemed odd because it showed bluetooth in the corner but was disabled in the HP Wireless Assistant with no way to turn it on. Perhaps it was the software Geek Squad (or someone) got put on it? (it's got this microsoft "is a netbook right for you?' propaganda on there.)
ill check it out again tomorrow, not a dealbreaker, but it would be good to know. -
One of my HP notebooks had the BT software and such but it didnt really have the BT module inside.
My acer has the BT button and software but no module either. It says not installed when you try enable it. -
Hello. I just wanted to share my troubleshooting on this. I have the HP DV5T-1000 and a Motorola S805 bluetooth headset. I was having the same problems. I could see it on my bluetooth devices but when I played music, the sound came from the speakers on the laptop. I was curious if it was the headset or the laptop. So I tried the headset with my wifes laptop. She has HP DV6500US. It worked perfect on her laptop. What I noticed is that with her laptop, the audio switched to Bluetooth High Q instead of the Realteck Audio. Audio. This didnt happen with my DV5T. I am going to try reinstalling my audio and bluetooth drivers and see if this fixes it. Oh I should have mentioned that both laptops are running Windows XP 32bit. Dont know if that is any help.

Hello. So I tried reinstalling drivers for both audio and blue tooth and that didn't work.
What I did to get it to work though is this:
Make sure your drivers are all installed meaning no yellow marks in the device manager. Then you have to open up the Sound and Audio Devices in Control Panel. Under Audio, change the default device to Blue Tooth High Q. Audio. Apply and restart. When you reboot you should see that the Blue tooth High Q. Audio is still selected. Now all the sound goes through my headset. I haven't tried the mic yet, but pretty sure that works too. Don't know why you have to manually set it instead of it being automatic. But this method worked for me. Again I am running Windows XP SP3. Now if I want sound back on the speakers I have to change it all back and restart. Hope this helps anyone. -
you also need to pair the headset and laptop. did you do this?

Well i also have bluetooth in the hp laptop i have below... suprising...
