My dv6000t is due in next week - complete with Vista Premium. I have a great dv2000t XP/MCE image - I am thinking about imaging the dv2000t image onto a replacement SATA drive - then installing Vista as a dual boot just like I have my dv2000 set up. I assume the chipset/etc are similar between the dv2000 and dv6000. Does anyone have any input as to how well this will work? I'm thinking about doing the image to get around the no-SATA drivers on XP cd issue/problem. I have a copy of XP media to keep the licensing legal by the way. Thanks...

It may work, but you will likely be playing around with drivers (as the two units may have different revision components like the sound chipset.) I'm sure Windows XP will trigger a reactivation as well..........

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I have tried to install the SATA drivers before, using a USB floppy, and it failed every time. Just trying to get the USB floppy to recognize was a near nightmare. I couldn't ever get it to work. Hopefully the dv6000 will still have the native-SATA/non-native SATA option in the BIOS.

I doubt it. The one I just got a week ago had no such option.

R4000 - Thanks for the info - Not good news but bad news doesn't get better with age. Good news is I found my USB floppy while cleaning my son's room tonight - and at $832 - I didn't have to hock the family jewels to get the dv6000t.
