I just bought one stick of addional 512 memory for my ZV6000. I had ordered my laptop with 1X512 of memory, so I thought when I opened up cover on the middle of the bottom of the computer I would find the one stick I had ordered when the machine was built, guess what........nothing in eitherslot, surprise to me!! I guess that original chip is inside somewhere else, from what I have read.................
Has anyone experinced this?

The other slot is hidden under the keyboard for the zv6000. To get to it, you're going to have to open up the notebook, which will void your warranty.

As Krispy mentioned, the 1st memory module is usually always located under the keyboard. You can actually get to this module easily. I don't believe this will not void the warranty of your notebook. Since you're just taking a couple screws out from under the notebook, this is not considered disassembling your unit.
Since you bought an additional memory module and the bottom is free, you don't really have to worry about anything, just pop the module in and your set.

Yep, the second slot is under the keyboard... and opening the keyboard to access it will void your warranty.

Miner,
I just wanted to confirm my comments about it not voiding your warranty, so I contacted HP's 24/7 Live Chat and asked the question:
"I want to upgrade my memory, will I void the warranty if I unscrew the keyboard and replace the memory module under the keyboard?"
The response was:
"Both memory modules are user accessible and can therefore be changed. You will not void the warranty unless you damage the hardware."
So Bigfoot, there's no worries of changing the memory modules and voiding your warranty.

Well, this is what the HP online warranty info states...
I hope that they have changed that policy for the newer models... -
I had ordered another 512 ram chip of 2700 from 4allmemory.com, ran me $59.00 they didn't charge me shipping or tax. Recieved it today and installed it, everything is working fine no problems at all.
I have noted that there is a noticable speed increase in the system, which is very nice..........didn't expect that much of a increase!! -
Miner,
When they say sealed, that generally means taking apart the unit, hdd or monitor. They have designed all the memory modules (at least all unit after the HP/Compaq merger) to be accessible by the user (couple screws on the underside) or 1 cover under the unit. They just don't want you to taking apart your unit and touching the systemboard or even the LCD housing. That could cause damage to parts that the normal user is not skilled enough to be touching. HP even puts a little drawing on the underside of the units to indicate which screws are for the keyboard. Also, if the keyboard were sealed, it'll be a lot more difficult to get off.
Bigfoot,
Congrats on the ram. Upgrading the ram will usually give a performance increase. The system now has more memory to access and therefore does not have to swap to the slower HDD when it runs low on memory. Ram is the 2nd best upgrade you can make to a system to increase performance. Below is the list of best performance upgrades.
1. GPU (Makes a difference for games)
2. RAM
3. HDD
4. CPU
