After having decided on a hel80. Common sense hit me, and well ended up pay half of what the hel80 would have cost me, and just want to have some more money for other little things also like more ram, razer mouse and save more for xmas.
So I went to the local Frys, which is 45min away, and started looking at the 3 rows or so of laptops.
Looked at the HP dv2000, dv6000, I just didnt like the feel. To me it was just very plasticy feeling, and the case just flexed too much for me(coming from an old think pad a22m) so they were crossed of me list, cause i want somthing that felt stronger. Looked at the sony vaio's belt great, great screen. but I wanted something dual core, and a little better than the gma950.
Then I came to what I ended up with a Compaq v6000. It felt solid did not flex really, keyboard was solid,no thinkpad but it was good, it had the dual core amd which is a plus cause I am an AMD fan, though where I live I am surrounded by Intel campuses. It had an nvidia 6150 a low end card, but it was better than the gma950. The price of 630$ for it was great. so I grabed it, a gig stick of ram, a awesome targus bag, http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TSM005US
and was set.
after getting home and deleting all the useless crap on it. took it for a spin. put on World of Warcraft *the only game I play* and loaded it up, was quite surprised how it played at the native screen resolution with most settings mid or high and played so smoothly. My desktop would never play this well.
normal task so far are quite speedy. the left palm rest gets a little warm but never uncomfertable.
all in all i am really happy with my purchase its a nicely built notebook at a great price.
thats my ramble
thank you
ps: anything i need to know about the amd dual core? to optimize or what not for it?

Glad to hear your enjoying your notebook!
As for optimizing Dual Core, Windows should have the hotfix needed for that already.
Not sure what that hotfix is called, but I'm sure someone where does.
Btw, awesome sig.

Don't know if they have it up for the v6000, but on my machine I went to www.HP.com , typed in the model number.... and there was an AMD patch that you use after a fresh install. -
thank you, it did have that also for mine
-
PS: If you could, please run some benchmarks with
Super PI
3DMark05 / 06
In case you don't know, you want to backup the contents of the C:\SwSetup folder to a dvd, external hard drive for safe keeping.... within that folder are the SP's, and the apps for your machine. (I guess Compaq has the folder, HP's do)
PS: When doing a fresh install, download the SP's direct from HP and use those as they should be newer...
One last thing, I would assume you still have the box? Look on the box and see if it says Inventec anywhere on it, or if any of the below matches up.
Hewlett Packard
C/O Inventec Pudong (Shanghai) CO., LTD
699 Puxing Road.
Shanghai 201114
China P.R.C.
I just received a HP Business model, nx6325 RB526UT#ABA and was wondering if they build the Compaq's also. I would assume they do since Inventec was the supplier to Compaq before the merger.
