I finally unplugged my Envy today, and will balanced power plan, Intel graphics, and screen brightness about 60%, I get 1 hour of battery life. It was a little longer than that, but that is what Windows and battery bar are reporting.

Any ideas before I call tech support? Should I try reinstalling Windows?

Never had this issue with a laptop before.

Ignore batterybar and time yourself again. Same thing happened to me but surprisingly after the 3 charge cycle im getting about 2.5 hours. Im going to wait a week and see if it gets to 4 hours..windows/batterybar still report 1 hour so remember to time it yourself

Same issue here except it doesn't actually die within the estimated time. There seems to be an issue with an update that's causing the estimation to be incorrect...if it's really only lasting an hour there's most likely a problem though.

this is still no where near as good as my old Envy 14 though..I used to watch 2 full length (about an hour and a half each) movies and still have about 20% left for some web browsing. I just watched a movie earlier today and it was down to 30% by the end...you think maybe the radiance display uses a lot more power? All the other specs are the same between both Envy's..the motherboard also looks slightly different when I opened them both

If the change in battery life is only reduced a little and not a lot, it probably is the screen. The Radiance display is capable of higher brightness which in turn wastes more battery and I'm sure the higher resolution takes a little extra for the on-board video to power.

Yeah, Windows 7 is reporting it incorrectly. Battery Bar actually started to get more and more accurate as the battery began to deplete. Kind of weird though that Windows is incorrect.

Seems I might get between 3 - 3 1/2 hours of battery life which is fine by me. Thats about what I get with my 2008 MBP.

You should go through a few charge cycles. The battery probably needs to move it's electrons around and the computer needs to get it's readings more accurate.

The radiance screen doesnt necessarilly use more power to be brighter The screen can maybe just be more efficient at producing light.

I get well over 3 hrs on mine on power saver and Intel. Screen on full brightness (as always!). If you keep getting only an hour after a few charges, it wounds like you have an issue with yours.

Normal power saving. Lowest brightness at all times, bluetooth off, Wifi on.
