So I just received my HDX18t yesterday and noticed that the upper and lower hinge cover does not fit together. In fact it looks like the factory pried it back open - look at attached photo. I called the HDX support line who transferred my to sales who transferred me back to the HDX support line just to find out that I have to send in my laptop to get it fixed in stead of them just sending me the part. The problem is only cosmetic so I don't want to have to send my new computer away for several weeks! Has anyone had a similar experience? Do you think if I talk to the right person at HP they'll just send me the part? Do you think I'm whining over nothing? Thanks for any input.

Did you just buy the notebook? I would return it, since it's under the 21 day return period. Just call them and let them know the issue and say want a new system. They'll let you order another one.

If it's new, I would get a brand new one rather than get it repaired. They will not send you the part to replace it.
