Has anyone else come across this?

Unpacked a brand new notebook from its box, connected the battery and power cable, pressed the on switch and ..... nothing. Just a twitch from the DVD drive and a few lights come on for 10s or so.

HP tech support said there might be some "residual current on the motherboard from when they built and tested the unit." I need to remove the power cable and battery and press the on switch for 20 seconds to "clear the power."

Upon re-inserting the battery and power cable everything was fine until this morning. Same thing happened.

Obviously it is going back to HP and I am getting a replacement but has anyone else heard of "residual current" left on thmotheroard???

    Many thanks
    Harry

Sounds like BS to me. But who knows?
Just don't let them drag this out past 21 days before you ask for a refund.

    Good luck.

It sounded suspicious and I searched on Google and found nothing.

I am getting a new one tomorrow and hope it's not a fault with the model / batch or whatever!
