    *sigh*

Just got a brand new HP dv7 today, love the amazing 1920x1080 matte screen, love how fast it is, love everything except for the fact that it won't play any DVDs that I have.

Windows Media Center won't play them, CyberLink Power DVD won't play them (that program just completely crashes every time I put a disk in)...anyone know what's going on?

I know it's not the discs--they're pristine and in perfect shape and they play fine on my Mac, but they just won't play on this computer. I got one of them to play with Windows Media Center, but then the next time I tried, it wouldn't work.

With PowerDVD, only the opening will play and then it will just freeze and crash. With Windows Media Center, the picture and sound will be all garbled. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I really don't want to have to return YET ANOTHER computer... :(

if you have HP support Assistant, run it and it will give you the option to download the latest PowerDVD

just ran inception, after doing a reformat, and downloading powerDVD off that

    hope that works :)

Alright, so I upgraded Power DVD and turned off the Autoplay function and it seems to be working now. I really have no idea what that was all about, but either way, it's working now. *shrug*

Hope this doesn't screw up again, but I have a while to return it...
