I just received my dv7tqe a few hours ago and noticed it's pretty hot. on idle, meaning browsing this forum, the temp sensors are reading 68 degrees and is uncomfortably hot on the top left corner.
I noticed that on small tasks like playing a video the temp jumped to 82 degrees, so I decided to run a cpu stress test and in a matter of seconds the temp jumps to 94 degrees, the fans become so loud that it bugged my girlfriend.

Is this normal? I'm about to return this POS tomorrow, the question here is really should I buy a new one or this is the expected behavior and I should look elsewhere?

    my 2630QM:
idle should be around 55C (no A/C, room temp about 30C). Browsing web at about 60C or so. But sometimes it bumps up 95C when playing games

What is your ambient temperature? My DV6 temperature when browsing the web + listening to music is around 54c-58c (Radeon GPU enabled) at 34c ambient temp.

Yours should be lesser since its DV7 which have more room for cooling. Maybe u had a bad thermal paste application.

ambient temperature here is 21C. Yes, I also expected a much better cooling performance in a 17' laptop since the same processor is available on 14' chassis laptops.
I will return this and give HP a 2nd try. If both sucks I will probably will buy something else

Yes. I already made my mind with regarding to return it. now I'm just deciding if I want a new pavillion or not.
I still didn't get used to this keyboard, I hate the half sized arrow keys and the dwarf enter key. I will keep it a few more days and see if I get used to it.
