    Hey all,
I have a problem with my Compaq Presario 2500, ancient I know, but well it suits me for the moment. Recently my "fn+f1" and "fn+f2" keys have ceased to work. I have no idea why. This means that I cannot control the brightness on my screen. To solve this I have freshly reinstalled windows and the drivers and software off the compaq website to no avail. Function+F1 opens the windows help and function+f2 opens a rename dialogue box, ie as if i did not have "fn" pressed. Its very irritating esp as I have to use my laptop on the powerpack to get brightness. Its not the "fn" button as the mute and volume buttons work fine with it!
I have searched the internet and have been unable to find a fix. Has anyone any idea how to solve this??

    regards

I have the exactly the same problem. Suddenly, the FN+F1 and FN+F2 keys stopped working. FN+F1 now works like F1 (Help function).
