Hello iam saving to purchase a HP DV7T labtop but i went to a bestbuy location around the house and was only able to view the brightview screen. My opinion on it was it looked nice but i was left wondering about the infinity upgrade. Is it really worth it??

    Looking for some opinions.

the Infinity option is pretty much Edge to Edge glass, meaning the bezel and the screen are covered by a single pane of glass from one edge of the laptop to the other edge. It makes the laptop look very nice but the overall advantages are purely cosmetic.

It is still considered glossy by people so it the glare or reflections are still there (albeit much less than pure glossy screen). The biggest thing is that you will avoid the acrylic bezel, which will easily scratch, collect dust and fingerprints. With the Infinity, the bezel is covered so the glass surface is much easier to clean and no scratches. If you are one of those people who hate scratches, go for it. If you don't really care, then pass.

Hmm...yea i'am not a fan of getting things scratched in anyway especially if i'am spending this money being in tight budget. Last question so brightness, glare and reflection are the same on both??

To be honest, I never had a Infinity display (dv6500t didn't have the option at the time and the Envy 15 dropped the option at the last minute before it was launched) and no one I know that has a dv5t/dv6t/dv7t had one, but based on what I know from people's internet reviews of the option the glare and reflection are really around the same, with some favoring the regular and others favoring the Infinity by a bit. So just decide based on aesthetics and how much more you are willing to spend based on it.

a lot of people complained about the infinity glass. if you're on a budget, pass on it. by the way, i recommend checking this site for plenty of info on this topic: http://www.google.com

Well, the first installment of DV7 had a flaw in the infinity display...I have it. The plastic edge to edge display has a double sided tape which is what keeps it in its position, problem with it??? It seems that the tape after some time starts to deteriorate and dust begins to get stuck between the display and the plastic. Also the infinity display gets scratched by the keys. All this is not covered and was never solved by HP. Just sharing a common issue that the first owners of the DV7 line suffered.

Anyhow, I haven't heard any complaints in the DV7-2000 or 3000 series. Hope this got resolved in the next revisions of this machine.
