Hello everyone, I'd just like to know of anyone else has screen tearing regardless of activating v-sync on their driver and game settings with fixed mode. If I change it to dynamic, v-sync works just fine and I get no tearing, but if I activate fixed mode, I get really bad screen tearing.

Does anyone know any fix for this, or drivers that correct it? I get this even on leshcat's custom drivers.

with the newest beta drivers, starting with 12.7 beta June 26, you don't need fixed mode anymore.

I used to have window dragging stuttering vsync issues during fixed mode, which would require rebooting to fix.

Why? I just installed them and I don't see any difference.

you said dynamic mode works fine.

why do you need fixed mode?

are you playing any games that require fixed mode?

Well, it's more of a hassle to have to always open CCC to define the dedicated GPU, but more than that for some reason I seem to get better GPU performance in pcsx2 and Dolphin in fixed mode, regardless of setting it to High Performance in CCC.

I have a dv6t-6100qe with a 6770m, operate my machine in fixed mode, and have had this issue at least 3 or 4 times (I play around with my drivers often). Notably, when this has happened, this vsync issues wasn't necessarily with every game, but has definitely happened with at least one of the following: Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Batman Arkham City, and Rayman Origins.

Anyways, when this annoying vsync problem happened, I simply uninstalled the video card drivers, reinstalled the latest HP video card drivers, and sometimes installed the latest mobile drivers on top of that (the drivers on the AMD web site won't work, you will need to find them on something like guru3d's forums). At the end of the day, simply having the HP drivers seemed to always eliminate this problem. On the flipside, having the latest mobile AMD driver on top of the HP driver generally worked (and usually resulted in better overall performance), but would usually "permanently" mess up at least one game's vsync. It's weird...

Usually when my Window Aero had screen tearing, i simply change the resolution and then revert it back to native res. No need to reboot.
