    Hi all,

Ok the problem is with a friends mom and her HP, specs are

    HP Paviliion dv4000 running WinXP

Now she has been using it but wanted an external screen to make things bigger and easier to see.

She buys a Samsung Syncmaster 205w from Officemax.

Problem is simple, she frequently uses the site Http://www.investors.com .

When she is on her laptop display running at it's native 1280x800 rez it is fine. Everything is centered with no free space on either side of the browser.

Now when I got her onto an external the same page appeared to load the page fine, but it opens the page with alot of "open white space" which she hates because she wants everything centered. I tried lowering the rez the browser doesn't seem to care.

Switch back to notebook screen, screen is filled no extra space.

I know it sounds hard to describe so i'm doing my best. It also does this on CNN.com

So I get on my ASUS G1 rez 1680x1050, and I notice the same thing on the 2 sites listed, the page loads with ample space on the right.

I have tried both IE and Firefox to same effect. So I know it's not an external quirk only because mine does it.

Sorry to make this so long but how do I resize or "stretch" it so these certain pages will fill the browser???

    Thnx a million guys!

I had a similiar problem with some pages i.e. lots of white space with the content being deplayed under the right hand page border. I was runing windows2K and found that when I upgraded to the newest version of IE which is available for my OS then the problem disappeared.

This would be the time to use the alternate display monitor with a different screen resolution. Go into Control Panel, Display, Screen resolutions, and set up a second display that you can toggle to for use when the external display is being used.
