My new HP Pavillion dv7tqe keeps having crashes while using the AMD graphics. It seems to happen a lot when watching full screen HD video and a few other times during regular usage. Sometimes I get a notification saying that windows restarted the drivers but most of the time the whole thing crashes and the display is frozen or I get a bsod.

Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it?

Only when OCing the drivers crash and cant recover.
Or...when the card overheats but that cant just happen in your case since you arent doing anything heavy.

To tell you the truth,i've only used the 6770m for gaming so even if i had the same problem,i wouldnt know.

Set the graphics card's power settings to maximum(advanced power settings in windows) and go to CCC and change the power settings to performance.
If that doesnt do the trick you might as well download ati tool and change the card's profiles so that it doesnt downclock itself.
Another possible way would be to just overclock your card like 5MHz.This in some cases disables its downclocking.
