Hello, I have a Compaq Presario V6000Z and I have the built in microphone which I would very much like to use and try out. There is the problem though, and it is that I don't know where to use it or what program to use it with. Please help, I would like to try this feature out but am not sure how. Thank You

you can use it in a lot of programs. One simple one is the sound recorder. Go to start, accessories, entertainment, then sound recorder. Also you can do voice chat in aim, messenger, and skype.

in case you dint know it, Windows XP has speech recognition software built-in sorta...here is a link explaining it:

    Windows XP Speech Recognition

It actually works fairly well and with a number of Windows applications. It gives a way to try it out. Everything from dictation to controlling your system with voice commands.

One thing you will find is the built-in mic's are not the best for many uses. it has been my experience they work OK but a nice noise cancelling headset is a better option for almost all mic needs. Logitech makes some nice ones that are not too expensive. But in to just get a feel and use a mic the built-in should be fine.
