    Does it really take 10 days to build a computer? I'm getting a little anxious here. I ordered my DV3Z 2/1 but it still says its in production. Are HPs still only being made in China?

    Here are the specs:
    * • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
    * • AMD Athlon(TM) X2 Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs QL-62 (2.0GHz)
    * • 13.3" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    * • FREE Upgrade to 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    * • ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3200 Graphics with 64MB Display Cache Memory
    * • FREE Upgrade to 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    * • Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    * • Full Size Backlit Keyboard
    * • Wireless-G Card with Bluetooth
    * • Tray Load SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    * • 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    * • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    * • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

    Won't shipping take a while too? I was hoping I'd get it before the 10th like some other customers did. :(

    One or more of the parts in your computer could be in backorder, which might account for the delay. If it is shipping from China, it will probably take 4 days or so to get to you, plus one day to go through customs.

    Whatever your Expected Build Date is, it should be here by, or before.

    I think Mine took like 7 days or so to build, and I got it within 4-5 days after that.

    you're going to be waiting a long time I think. I ordered a dv3z on 1/17. The estimated ship date was 1/29. Anyways, it just got shipped 2/5. They give you a $50 coupon to make up for it if it is late. Good Luck.

    Yup. Supposedly it should ship tomorrow but there's been no status change. What's the hold up? Were my specifications too difficult to do within a week?

    About that coupon, is there a threshold? Do I have to spend a certain amount before I can get the $50?

    Once the laptop goes into production, the status wont change until it ships. If the ship date is tomorrow, since these ship from China probably expect it to ship tomorrow morning. As for as any possible delays, cant really predict since it could be due to either high demand or lack of supply. In anycase the status wont change online for a few days. Not much you can do either wait for it or cancel the order. The coupon is usually sent via email automatically if there is a delay.

    I dont know if there is any preset thershold for the coupon but it is only valid for one month from the date of issue and its one time use.

    It finally says "Feb 11, 2009 2:08 AM In transit SHANGHAI CN"

    Are there still massive delays in Indiana like there used to be? I'm going to take the Bolt Bus from NY to Boston Friday night (2/13) and I'd really like to play with it on the way there to make the time go by. Plus, Bolt Bus has free wifi.

    Siiiiiiigh.

    Also, can anyone who has had a laptop sent to them recently how long it took if you're expecting it in NYC? I had it delivered to my office so the secretary could sign for it since I'm never home at reasonable hours.

    hey I received mine. I did a couple of tests and made my own review. It has a serious overheating problem that will probably cause problems. you might want to consider returning yours. sry for the bad news.

    I didn't experience that with the DV4 that I had before I decided that I wanted something smaller and the associate from best buy said that if it does overheat, it's most likely because of a bad battery. Perhaps that's what you had.

    Anyway, it's in taiwan now. TAIWAN. .
