Can anyone help me find the part number for the internal Bluetooth chip for the HP Touchsmart PC (TX2z)? I would like to purchase that so I don't have to have A) one of my USB ports consumed and B) not have anything hanging off the laptop waiting to be snagged or broken.

Does anyone know of a website with instructions for dismantling this model laptop? Where is the Bluetooth chip at? I was under the assumption that the wireless NIC had the bluetooth built into it - but when I took out a working wifi/BT chip and put it in this laptops slot - it found the wireless portion just fine, but no Bluetooth (even when installing same drivers as the original laptop the card came from).

Any help is appreciated - as HP Support told me to just google it. GRRRRR....

Personally. I'd love having a laptop with bluetooth built-in.
But if adding 1 after purchase, I'd rather choose the usb dongle, cause I don't like to break any seal in the laptop..

But since you've opened it, and have found the p/n..
Does replacing the wlan chip with BT is sufficient or does it require additional antenna or just share with the wifi's one?

Sometimes buying the individual part costs more rather than buying it built-in. I was debating this too since the tx2z at BestBuy without BT is $899 but Office Depot has the tx2z 1020US for $1049 after $50 mail-in rebate with BT included.

if you buy the part aftermarket it will be more expensive, the only exception i can think of is if you acquire the item from ebay or something.

in my case, i'm currently looking for the broadcom wireless N thats compatible for my tx2500z. it is 40-50 something on hp part store but i found it in ebay for about $25 shipped. hp why did they have to bios lock the wireless card!

Oh i should have posted its easy to get to its right in the front right of the palmrest you need to take it off and then you can get the connecter. Or maybe its on the bottom of the motherboard and you need to remove it i cant remember.
