Anyone know what the burn speed is for the HD DVD on the 9500?
I've heard 1X
I presume that means the burn speed for Hi Def DVD's? Right?
What about DL standard DVD's and regular single layer DVD's???

NO the HD DVD drive can only read HD DVDs it cant write to them. it supports DVD+/-R and DVDRW and CD-R etc.... single layer DVDs burn at 4x and DL DVDs at 2.4x
ive got one myself its an ok drive but speeds are slow and really not worth it if u can customize to get the other drive option and save $400 -
I have only burned a couple Dvds so far and they were over 2 hours in length. Apollo DVD Copy ripped them in about 30 mins and wrote them back to the blank in about 15mins. These were really long DVDS however. It was the Ric Flair collection and they are over 3 hrs each I think.

Well the HD DVD ROM drive does not burn HD DVDs but HP recently added an option for a HD DVD writer drive. For this drive yes the burning for HD DVD discs are 1X so its extremely slow. I wouldn't pick a next gen format just yet because which ever format that eventually wins will then become cheaper and you can just get a USB burner. I really don't think you will wait for over 10GB of data at 1X. And I believe it also has a 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support. Hope I helped.
