Many (most) times not ALL of the HP drivers are on the driver download page for a particular laptop. They can usually be found but you may have to ask for help on the forum locating a particular driver (such as the webcam driver). After your drivers install, take a look in Device Manager if there are any driver errors and go from there.
If you haven't all ready installed the VB OEM software, save the c:\swsetup folder to DVD currently on your HD. That folder contains ALL the drivers for your particular notebook. -
after saving all the files in c:\swsetup, after installing xp what do i do? i have vista home premium 64

do i just copy over the whole folder?

if i reinstall vista from a recovery disc do i hvae to activate it?

You can find all the latest drivers here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=338874 if you need to do a reinstall without recovery discs.
When you reinstall from recovery discs you do NOT have to activate.

You never mentioned installing XP in your original post. The c:\swsetup folders contain the drivers for Vista if your machine shipped with Vista. If you want to install XP on a machine that shipped with Vista visit one of the DV5 threads dedicated to that activity, many people have been successful downgrading to XP, use their experiences. You will find many, if not all, of your questions answered there.
NO! I am assuming that this is a HP recovery disc that you made from the recovery disc procedure on your notebook or purchased from HP.
Burned recovery disc wrongly, a little help?
