I have had troubles reading recorded DVDs from my NX8220 notebook on other computers. I am using Ridata 8X DVD+R media, and the DVD was recorded using Nero. I am not using multisession, and the DVD is finalized after writing.

The recorded DVDs read fine on my notebook, but some will not play on other computers; some can't be read at all, and some can be read but experience read errors.

I don't have any other DVD media, so I have not had a chance to see if the problem is with the Ridata DVDs. Has anyone else had a similar problem, in general, or specific to the NX8220 and Ridata media?

I made a dvd disc (using fujifilm) for a friend from a show I recorded from TV . He told me he noted a couple of times there was pixelation and short freezes, but only a ouple of times. I may need to try a different brand disc.

I copied the show from the computer that does the actual "TIVO'ing of my shows and burned it with the laptop.

Ritek is not a top quality manufactuer. I would try some Taiyo Yudens. They are widely considered to be the best blank DVDs. You can get them at places like Rima.com. FujiFilm blank DVDs sold at BestBuy and elsewhere marked Made in Japan are TYs.

Could it be a problem with the format being DVD+R? I usually use DVD-R, and those have worked fine.

I've read in the HP.com forums that a newer version (7) of Nero can solve some problems with the Nx6 series notebook, which AFAIK also shares IDE connector between HD and DVD like your Nx8220. Or just try another burning program.
