With everything I am hearing about the bloatware, high pitch noises, etc. I am considering just buying the Business laptop. I use the NC6000 for work and it is an absolute work horse. Is it true, you buy a business laptop with the OS, you don't get the bloatware?

You do still get some bloatware, maybe not as much as a comparable consumer laptop. Nevertheless, I still prefer to reformat the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows.

Think of buyinng a business laptop for its build quality, not the software that comes preinstalled.

Yeah business notebooks are known for their better build quality and more comprehensive warranty.

If you want a lappy with no bloatware then consider a reseller. Asus, Compal Clevo/Sager, and MSI resellers should be able to give you a laptop with an OS installed and no bloatware at a good price.

My consumer HP dv2000t does not emit any high pitch noise. It is not that sturdy though.

As a general rule, yes, most business class laptops come with either a lot less or no bloatware installed.

Bloatware isn't normally a problem though if you're comfortable doing a clean install and if they included the discs (unfortunately, it's getting a lot less common that these are included these days).

I had ONE program I uninstalled when I got my machine...but only because I didn't need it. I had less than 40 processes running when I booted it for the first time...

Why do the HP business laptops come with a 3 year warrenty and the consumer one's comes with a 1 year warrenty? Do you buy the extra 2 years buying a consumer laptop?

I realize I can buy it, but do consumers usually buy it? Is it worth the $200-$300, 20-30% of a machine?
