I know the dv8t is a new laptop and also new is win7 and i7 processor. Is it prudent to wait a bit to see if all this new stuff works? The problem is I need to get a new laptop and the price of the a dv8t seems like a great value for what you get on paper. I am just wondering if I am being paranoid in thinking it will take months for them to make sure these new laptops are any good.

Anybody have any experience with hp and just introduced laptops (with a new processor and video card combos)?

i spoke to a CSR yesterday, and he said the engineers were frantically trying to get that laptop ready by the release date to match with the windows 7 release. he said that that is why there were no advanced machines given to the pc review magazines and virtually no press about it. so it is probably going to be pretty buggy. lots of firmware releases for the bios and graphics card within the first year i'm sure.

if you can stomach the hiccups and keep your drivers up to date, you could jump on board with it now. i'm holding out a few weeks to see if they release a backlit keyboard.

although... i just noticed that hp direct bing cashback is currently at 15%.

at the bottom... look at featured merchants and click over until you get to hp direct.

If it's anything like the envy 15, I would wait. I get the feeling HP engineers rushed to get this one out for the windows 7 launch as well.
The trackpad is a little glitchy and a few people talk about how hot their machines get, actually a good amount of people have reported this.

Thanks for the input.....I might just go to a dv7t and buy it at costco so I can bring it back within 3 months.
