I have decided to buy a HP 8510p with T9300 Processor.
To the normal specs of this laptop, I would like to add:

2GB aditional RAM. (not from HP)
300GB 7200 16MB cache HD. (not from HP)
WinXP Downgrade - because of the possibilty caused by: DRM.

I do not intend to play games with it.
I do not intend to make 3D modulation on it.

I just want performance without to mutch noise and to mutch heat.

I'm really concern about the performance, I don't like to wait for computers process and I'm a "heavy multi-tasker" with all ADOBE CS3 Collection open at the same time and 4 browser windows open all the time... and also Outook open all the time...

    So, regarding this:

Do you think its a good machine?

Do you think I will benefit if I choose XP 64 instead of 32?

Do you think Vista Business will perform better then XP Pro ?

    Thanks a lot,
    Tlf

    Thanks Jerry,

I now that HP Business Line came with several OS options:
I have heard some bad thinks about Vista BUT, some good thinks about Vista 64 with the processor that supports it. Do you think it will be better to choose Vista 64 instead of XP 32 ?

The SO that HP normally offers with the laptop are 32 or 64 versions? Can we choose?

    Thanks once again.

I think 32 bit is the norm , with vista ultimate i think you get to choose whatever you want . If I were to install vista it woud be 64 bit , but I'm still on xp pro , and I have xp 64 bit but have not installed it yet . I think support for vista 64 is better than xp-64 .
good luck , I hope someone else will offer some more insight into this for you .

It should offer both Vista 32 or 64-bit selection at first boot as both are loaded. If you want performance and do not have some strict requirements on legacy hardware/software, e.g. Cisco's crappy VPN client, then Vista 64-bit is the way to go.

Thanks a lot for your comments.
What about the DRM problem? Is that an issue? It can be annoying? Can we disabled have you feel the presence of that DRM stuff on vista?

ps- YES, I DO PLAY mp3 files from the net.

I've used Vista for a year now on my 8510p. I've NEVER come across anything to do with DRM in Vista, even when streaming media from the net or ripping my CDs into the HDD (never used the default Windows program for any of these things though heh).

You won't be disappointed by this machine, it's excellent :)

That computer should work very well. It'll be like the 4x4 of SUV's.

Thanks a lot for all your replys.

I will move to 64bits then, and give it a try. But on a 8530p model.

    I'm waiting for it.

    :)
