    Hi,

I'm looking to buy a dv5-t with a WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) resolution display in either the UK or Australia. From the US HP website it seems quite simple as you can customise your laptop through the HP store. I can't find the same thing on either of the UK or AU HP websites. Also, I've yet to find an online shop that has the WSXGA+ display in the specs. Any ideas on where I can order this in UK or AU?

    Cheers

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Somehow, HP and its channel partners believe customers outside the US are not worthy of CTO units.

Ye its sooo annoying. I want a custom HP unit. They just have prebuilt dv5-t models in the UK.

And even then none have a 1680x1050 screen which is stupid.

That is pretty disappointing by HP. Ok, so I guess the next question has to be.... is it possible to order a laptop on the US HP store and have it delivered to AU or UK? Or if not from the US HP store, one of the other US online shops that has the dv5-t with a WSXGA+ resolution?

    Thanks

Well no other big name vendors except Dell (and Lenovo Canada) offers customizations for consumer notebooks outside the US.

    chrixx,

Thanks for the replies, I guess it's a shame that that there is no choice for CTO units. At the end of the day, is there no roundabout way to get a custom unit ordered and shipped out of the US?

    Thanks

yeah, i'd be pretty interested in ordering from the US site for delivery to UK if anyone can find a way around it.

Looking on the site though they only deliver to US addresses and accept payment from US cards.

Only way round it as far as I can see is find someone in the US that would be willing to order what you want for you and then ship it over here to the UK, then rather than us paying HP, we'd pay them. Middle man.

Do note though, that you would get a two pin US plug with it. Most laptops come with an adapter that will convert most countries' voltage and frequency into the right one for the laptop, so you should be able to just buy a cheap UK plug to fit it. Not sure if this is the case with all HPs or not though.

Another problem would be support. Since it was purchased in the US wouldn't you have to send it to the US facility? Or you could just tell them you moved after you bought it. What's the case in this? I just wanted to know as well. I live in the US, but I'm just curious.

My laptop should be coming this thursday (look at the signature below for specs).
(note: it came standard with 2gb, but will switch to 4gb I purchased)
