so far these specs are $1,512.99 without counting the savings yet. Should I upgrade the RAM here or should I buy a 1GB one off newegg? Is it easy to upgrade the hard drive? Which upgrades here are worth paying for and which aren't.

for your questions, upgrading the RAM is cheeper to do by yourself, like buying off newegg. however upgrading the hard drive is a bit more tricky, since you might need to format the hard drive...in not sure on that one.

    cheers,

You will definitely have to format the new hard drive if you upgrade. You can't use an unformated hard drive.

How much battery life do you need?

Do you need 120GB HDD (Only you can answer that)

When buying RAM, make sure it is a DDR2 200 pins SODIMM, prefferably at the speed of 667 MHz. Choose a brand name such as Crucial or Kingston.

prob ~3 hrs of battery. do HP coupons that are directed by this site work? and is student discount a better way to save compared to the coupons?

I think the coupons are a better deal because there is not a 100 dollar instant savings going on for the dv6000. I built it with the student discount and found out that it was more expensive than using the coupon. So, I bought it with the coupon and I can't wait for it to come. :)

ok. i think if my laptop settings are over 1400 then using the coupons would be cheaper. and when using student discount, can u combine it with other coupons?
