Costco states the following:
"For COMPUTERS, TELEVISIONS and PROJECTORS, Costco extends the MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY to two years from date of purchase. Please call Costco Concierge Technical Support @ 1-866-861-0450 for warranty assistance."
Yet, in the purchasing options for every system on Costco.com, you can opt for a two year service plan for a substantial fee.
Here's the question. If you purchase the additional coverage, is it for naught? Or does the two year service agreement offer enhanced service?

I wonder who ends up doing the warranty service? Does it go through HP or Costco or ???
I plan on buying a Costco laptop in August (when the Core Duo 2ghz model mentioned in the Costco circular goes on sale for $1299). -
I have always thought if you purchased a two year plan, it would be for naught. You would be basically purchasing HP's 2 year plan instead of Costco's free one.
This warranty is Costco's fairly new policy on all electronics. They give you 90 days to return and an extended warranty for free.
The only reason you would buy a warranty would be if you wanted more than 2 years, in which case you would be foregoing Costco's free one. -
Maybe the two years you pay for will be added onto the 2 years you have for free, leaving you with a 4-year warranty... Too good to be true?

The warranty is covered by HP. HP will send you the warranty papers around 2 weeks after you received the unit.
Buying from Costo.com, question.
