On http://www.xpbargains.com/st_deals.php/HP_coupons.htm the top coupon is for the L2000 Special Edition for $899, and it expires 7/31. Does that mean that after that time HP will discontinue the product or just raise the price?

Also, if it's discontinued so quickly, how will it be listed under HP product lines (e.g. the Crucial Memory Advisor tool which asks you for manufacturer, product line, and model)?

Where did you get the idea that coupons will lead to discontinuing of a model. The laptop was released just 10 days ago!!!

No, the L2000 is far from being discontinued already. Expect it to be availble at least through August.

Then what does the coupon mean? I admit it sorta shocked me, but then again, its "Special Edition"..

It's not even a coupon, the machine starts at $899. It's just a promotional tactic to get people to buy. Dell offers coupons every day, but that doesn't mean they're cancelling models.

The release price of the L2000 was $899.00. They just want you to think this is some limited-time offer on the price, but it's not. It's the normal starting price. And even if it was a sale price, that wouldn't mean that the line is about to be discontinued. Things are put on sale for many reasons.

I think it is possible to limited-time offer. :D
    1. how long HP support to lance? that's why they add on the model name "Special Edition".
    2. compare to v2000z(?), price difference about $200. why they losing money? if AMD didn't support lance and HP, they can not make this price and HP and AMD can not support lance for many years. also, every single sales, HP donate to the lance $50.

All I know is, I'm going to be on vacation for the next 3 weeks, so I'll barely have enough time to order one before the supposed expiration date..

Just got my L2k notebook that I ordered for my wife. Very impressed with the weight, brightview widescreen and speed seems to be up there. Only game loaded at this point is Post Mortem which shows up in widescreen. She had to increase the default font size to view web pages more comfortably is about the only bad thing I can say about it, although it looked fine to me.

    Modmatt,
Because you are the first to get one, you must now provide a full review. :)

You ordered on 6/22, with expected ship date of 7/7. But you got it 7/1, 7/2? Did you have normal or express shipping?

So it's two weeks from order to receipt, which is pretty standard for HP's process...I've order 5 different laptop from them and they always took exactly 2 weeks.

Not sure as of yet since we haven't run it down from a full charge. Will try and post up over the next few days. I can tell you that we got the 6 cell battery since the 12 cell looked so huge that it appeared that it would stick out the bottom of the laptop and not sit flush. Battery life wasn't a huge issue with us making the decision.

Ummm, that was my full review :). If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer. Seriously though, we got the standard shipping and custom ordered from hpshopping.com the day it was available to order, 6/22 and recieved it in NY on Friday morning 7/1. It shipped through Shanghai, to the Phillipines, to Alaska, then directly to NY. I was impressed with how fast it actually arrived and no problems with Fedex. Box was perfect condition.

    We ordered it this way:
HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC

    – Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional with SP2
    – AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-37 (2.0GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
    – 14.0 WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x768)
    – ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/productivity ports
    – 512MB DDR SDRAM (1x512MB)
    – 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    – DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
    – 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
    – 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    – Microsoft(R) Works/Money
    – hpshopping in-box envelope

Thx. That is basically the same config I got. Yes, they ship them from China and they show up in good condition. Fedex knows how to move packages.

can you run Super Pi on it (2M places) and tell us how long it takes?

    Thx.
