A while ago I broke the screen on my Compaq C714NR. I ordered a replacement screen (eBay) and today started to try the replacement.

I removed the 4 screw covers along the top of the front bezel, and removed those screws, but I can't tell what else I need to remove.

There are four screw-cover-like pads along the bottom of the bezel, but the two inner ones do not cover screws (I pulled off one of them and there is just black plastic underneath. The two outer ones, as far as I can tell, are not removable. They are harder than the screw covers I've already removed, and I can't pry them loose with a knife (the others came off relatively easily).

I thought maybe I could remove the bezel without unscrewing anything at the bottom of the screen, but that does not work - it's clearly anchored firmly at the bottom.

Then I though maybe I didn't need to take the bezel all the way off, so I unscrewed the brackets on the top and sides from the screen (10 screws total, i think). But the screen is clearly still attached somewhere on the bottom.

Any advice? Is there a guide somewhere that specifically covers replacement screen procedure for C700 or similar laptops? I've found several videos and tutorials online, but they all assume that all of the screw covers are easily popped off.

    thanks in advance...

Thanks for the link (and the quick response). Our definitions of the phrase "pretty easy" must be different (replacing the screen on other laptops looks like it requires about 1/4 of the disassembly), but it does look like a very clear video description of what I need to do, and it's exactly what I need.

    Thanks - I'm glad I posted here.

well I managed the screen replacement and all is well - I just wouldn't call the process "easy" (I'm used to pulling apart desktops, but this was my first attempt to do anything beyond upgrading memory in a laptop).

    Thanks again.
