Hi There, i have an Envy 14, and when woken up from sleep mode (ie opening the lid after being in sleep mode) the dvd drive makes a noise like it is trying to boot from the drive, even when the drive is empty.

Does anyone know how to stop the notebook trying to access the dvd drive after sleeping?

Maybe the drive is just doing it's power on test after coming out of standby.

I don't think there is a way to stop it from doing this. The only way I know of right now is to remove the optical drive.

the drive does that always. It's just the power-on test after standby like namaiki says.

It's just a loud power-on test. since it tries to eject or something (makes that noise) if there's no disc in there/it doesn't detect a disc in there just in case there's a disc stuck in the drive.
