I just bought this laptop, with the specifications in my sig for $950 US shipped, however someone on another forum told me i overpaid. From what i can find it dosent look that way, but am i wrong? is $950 too much?? It is used but with no scratches and 9 months warranty left.
(cant wait to get it!)

what? Overpaid? If this thing is working and performing as new (I presume 3months of use), then it's a great price. I think it's a very good deal; this configuration is very very powerful, pretty much the maximal one. I suggest you go to: http://notebookanalysis.com/modules.php?name=Forums and see what the real capabilities of your new machine are.

I've got the same thing minus 512 ram and they didn't have the 5400 rpm 100gb drive back in October. I p aid $1400 I believe. You lucky sob... =-) I love my machine to death

That thing is pretty much maxed out. That's a very good deal at $950.

yeah, whoever told you that you overpaid either needs his head reexamined. He may still be living in the days of yore when a dollar could get you a three-course meal and a bus ticket home.

What kind of battery life can you get with that?

Thanks guys, i figured it was a good deal considering the specs, just wanted to make sure. It should be here by thursday, i cant wait to load my stuff up on it.

I suggest you undervolt it. My Athlon 3500 undervolts really great to 0.875v @5x (that is 1000 mhz) and this really prolongs battery life (the default was something like 1.050v)

Just got it today, however i will be receiving $150 back. (making the total $800 shipped)
The reason for this is that the guy didnt even list the specs right... What i was SUPPOSED to be getting is in my sig, what i got was:
Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2Ghz
No Bluetooth..
100gb 4200rpm (not 5400)
And its pretty scratched up on the lid, but nothing on the screen or inside.
What do you guys think? Is it still worth the $800? Thanks. -
But l guess the desktop processor doesn't help -

Check your battery wear level with MobileMeter (right click | Options | Battery Info tab). Odds are it's fairly high, and new batteries aren't cheap ( TechExcess.net stocks them).
It looks like an equivalent Compaq V5000z would cost about $1,000. So, a little more money but lighter weight, smaller power brick, and fresh battery.
