I ordered a R4000 CFO from COMPUSA, after ?? rebates 399 + NJ tax and shipping 79$, came out to 769.99.
SO I looked at my receipt, the estimated ship date is 6/13/05, but the 170$ rebate (total = ~$300) (1 of 4) needs to be postmarked by 6/10/2005!!! do the math. SO I tried to get my money back (4-days after I ordered). Those SOBs tried to tell "don't worry you it always get it shipped early", I told them that I did not want to fight with the COMPUSA REBATE NAZIs. After banging on doors getting the managers attention they finally sent a e-mail to HP/COMPAQ requesting to cancel my order. I will check tomorrow to see if it got cancelled.
Funny how they banged my credit card for $769 in a flash, with a mid-June delivery, but any cancellation takes 5-signatures ++.
Now this is a GREAT deal, and HP is OK, but when dates CLEARLY don't match it could be a real fight..... so read the material they give you!

This may be a silly question, but are you sure you need your UPC for the rebate? The only reason I ask is that the Office Depot rebates for the R3000 did not require the UPC. You can submit paperwork for the rebates as soon as you place the order. Of course, I've never seen another rebate like that.

CompUSA is the worst about rebates. I had stopped buying from them for years after having rebates go unfulfilled. I gave them a try again early this year, thinking that perhaps they'd gotten their act together. Nope! $30 rebate on PNY video cards, PNY said that the UPC symbol wasn't included when there's a hole in my video card box that said I most certainly DID include it. CompUSA refused to do anything about it so they're back on my DO NOT BUY FROM list.
I've had better luck with Best Buy. A few years ago they were problematic but I think I've received all the rebates I've filed.
Of course, given a choice between buying local with rebates and buying mail order without rebates for about the same price, I'll deal with the annoyance of waiting for mail-order delivery. -

I've heard of it. I hope they follow through. Good riddance if they do.

Looks like the computer was delivered 1 week + 1 day after order was placed (quote indicated 6/13 delivery). I did not receive any tracking number it "just appeared".
SO now I just need to deal with the rebates.

Yeah, I hate dealing with some compaines and their rebates. I stopped buying anything from tigerdirect after not getting several rebates worth ~100.00 and they were pretty much like sorry too bad.
