The last week I've been watching some old 1960's sci-fi TV shows on Hulu (my did they over estimate our progress) and my CPU would hover at around 35-38%.

Today however, the CPU skyrocketed all the way 90+ and would even max out. I have no idea what would cause this issue as nothing on the sight has changed. I remember I used to have this problem when I first installed W7 back in December, but after a second, install, the problem ceased.

The only installation between when the problem showed up was my security system which was updated yesterday. I've also had some disk issue (checked for consistence) on start-up, but don't see how that would be related.

Any ideas on how to resolve or diagnose this problem would be greatly appreciated?

Well I would think maybe you have unnecessary processes in the background. CTRL+ALT+DEL and print screen the tasks that you have

Does it lag or stutter once it hits those high %s?

Yep. And the audio disintegrates as well.

Can's seem to download that shot though. Too large?

Are you on Balanced or High Performance?

I don't know about Hulu, but try a different web browser?

Balanced, but that hasn't changed; and I already tried changing the web browser. It was the same with Internet Explorer 8.

How about Google Chrome? It seems to be the fastest browser out

Hmm, rather track down what's causing this first. I'm never comfortable with high CPU values out of nowhere and for no good reason.

It's jumping into the 40's even now. It's normally ~ 7% when I'm on the web.

Well I guess I'll let it go for now and deal with it on Monday.

    Stupid thing.

Okay, watching Hulu "Expedition Wild" now via my neighborhood hotspot and CPU meters right at ~25% with a pristine picture. Also another four page open on Firefox and Adobe media player too. What gives with this thing, Cornish pixies or something?

p.s. Gross, this guys got the bear at his kitchen table.
