I have a 6530b laptop with a t9400. My laptop gets pretty hot under the mousepad(???) and around under the CPU area.

I was monitering the CPU temps while running Prime95 to stress the CPU. The temperature goes to 88 degrees and then the fan kicks in and drops the temp down to 80 degrees. Is this normal?

Also why would it get hot under the mousepad. The harddrive is not located there. Is it the harddrive controller or some other motherboard component?

Apparently this model is not very popular and i didn;t find much information about heat issues on google.

Should I send it in to the HP repair depot to see if something is wrong with the laptop? How do i even send it in? The laptop heats up and i think there might be a problem!!! Would they even entertain this?

FWIW my T9300 (2.5ghz 800mhz) would top out at 80c when running prime 95, but this was after the addition of AS5. Since the max temp for the T9400 is 105c I don't think that HP would do anything for you. There are things that you can drop your temp, but right now you aren't running anywhere near dangerous.
