    I have a Presario 3210ca which has a AMD 2800+ cpu.
In cpuid it says that I have a socket 754 board and that my cpu is a clawhammer. What I want to knwo is in the future if I wanted to upgrade to a AMD 64 cpu would that be possibel or is the cpu soldered on? Any takers on this?

here is a screenshot of cpuid.

(Copy and paste the above picture link to make it work, it'll complain about the referrer if you click it directly.)

The CPU is socketed. I don't know of anyone who's tried a CPU replacement, but in theory it should work. It's also guaranteed to void your warranty (if they notice [ :D]).

The CPU plugs into a socket, just like a desktop CPU. It's not soldered on.
