If I get one of these that has a celeron 900 processor, can I install my core2 duo processor of same speed or faster?
This celeron seems to be the same class and same socket as some spare core2 cpu I have laying around. The celeron is a 2.2ghz single core with 1mb cache. I have the following core2 models.
T7300 T7500 and T7700. I think I also have a T7100. The fastest of these being 2.4ghz with 4mb cache, but even the slowest (1.8ghz, 2mb cache) should be a step up from the single core celeron.
The unit I'm looking at is an HP refurb for $250
I'd be very disappointed if I got it and found it had a soldered processor.
Thanks in advance

According to the Intel specs that processor is only available in PGA478 not BGA479. However, you should check the tech specs of the notebook to see if it says PGA (socket) or BGA (soldered).
