I took apart the CQ60 as a fun project a while back to find that the GPU used thermal pads to conduct heat. Unfortunately, the pad tore so I ripped it off. I'm now using a thin copper shim & Arctic Cooling MX-2 between the GPU and the heatsink, otherwise the heatsink won't make contact with the GPU. The laptop still gets quite hot when playing undemanding games like Maple Story and Facebook's Tetris Battle. I'm not sure if this is normal or it's because of the poor heat conductivity between the GPU and the heatsink.

What are the best options right now? Would high quality thermal pads work better for me?
