Hey guys.. I'm enjoying my ZT 3000 but some of my friends have been trying to convince me to buy a notebook from a company called Chem Book. They provide 1.7 dothan/512 ram/ati 9600 128 mb graphics/2 year warranty for arnd 1500 $ in my opinion.
I have the following features on my laptop :
HP Pavilion zt3000 series customize notebook
    - Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition
    - Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 705 (1.5 GHz)
    - 15.4" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
    - 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) 9200
    - 512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
    - 40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
    - FREE Upgrade from 8X DVD to DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
    - Intel(R) Pro Wireless 2200 802.11b/g WLAN
    - Microsoft(R) Works/Money
    - 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - hpshopping in-box envelope

I'm planning to upgrade it to 1.6 or 1.7 since they are dothan processors. Additionally all you guys should run the Aqua mark 3d Test as well as 3d mark 2003 . My frnd did it he got 13500 but i seem to be gettin a score of 6000. Is that maybe coz of the fact that he has 512 single chip while i have 256 x 2. I read somewhere centrino doenst provide dual channel memory support
additionally guys, that company chembook .. they have the same manufacturer has HP .. i saw my frnd's config.
ull should run the pcpitstop.com test too ...
tell me wat u guys think of my planning to byu CHembook laptops.. the only thing it doesnt have is widescreen.
oh and yea..wats the advantage of buying your laptop from places like circuit city since they have generally lower prices then hpshopping...coz of their rebates..
and one more thing guys.... read this forum at x1000 -> 9200 vs 9000 .. gives u a bit of insight on the graphics that the ZT 3000 has..
has neone used fatwallet with APP and got both discounts? if yes. please tell me how to .. additionally wat is the difference between APP and EPP. i dont get it .. which offers a better deal..
thanks a lot guys..sorry for writing such a long post
    peace

Does your friend who ran the tests have the ChemBook you listed? If so, the difference in GPU would explain why there's such a huge difference in performance numbers. The ATI 9600 GPU is a WAY more powerful GPU than the ATI 9200 in your ZT3000. The Aqua & 3DMark tests, test the GPU's, not CPU's.

Pentium M Chipsets don't provide Dual Channel Memory support, but that doesn't make too big of a difference in the 3D performance tests.

Usually, the EPP (Employee Purchase Program) is the better deal, but most people can't get this deal. The APP (Academic Purchase Program) are discounts for students, but doesn't equal that of the EPP.

zt3340us here. love it. I would go with higher/better specs for lower price...if need be, price each spec and add it up from there...it's just an idea...
