I have a 10 year old camcorder, and it works just fine, we can watch the little super8 cassettes on the TV. I want to copy them to my dv9023us notebook with the HP TV tuner. The notebook can see TV signals when I connect directly from the satellite set top box, but apparently that's not the same kind of signal the camcorder puts out. What do I need to do in order to copy the VCR tapes? Is there some software I need that is compatible with the camcorder's signal?

    Thanks,
    Linda

It's a lot easier to do this through a home DVD recorder, if you own one.

Otherwise, if you have connected the audio/video cables to your TV tuner from your camcorder, you may need to play with the settings in your TV Tuner software to read from the NTSC source. If you are using Hi8 tapes, I don't think this works at all, since it's recorded in a digital medium. If you are using Hi8 tapes on a Super8 camcorder, nothing should work - it's just snow. When you get the signal, you'll see exactly what you see in the camcorder's playback viewfinder...and you should be able to press record on your notebook and capture in real time.
