Can this DV2000t support 667mhz rams? If not, why can't HP built a unit support a 667MHz cpu but no in memory? Dell 1405 and 1505 have same bus speed on cpu and memory.

Well, just get a pc5300 from local Fry's and yes, it fit in slot and boot up to Window too.. When test on bandwidth, it's showing 4300 bandwidth mark. So, it isn't 100% support pc5300, it just fit in and boot up window that's it.

You have to use dual channel memory to get 667 on this laptop.

I thought only 2000z support dual channel memory. How does 2000t do it?

What do you mean? T2300, 2400, 2500 and Intel 945G chipset by design support dual channel 667.

So, let me ask you this. What memory are we actually getting on the DV2000t? 533 or 667?

Somebody said it is even 400. At least HP spec. it like that. If you have CPU-Z, you can check it before you return it. ;)

hahaha. No, I don't have CPU-Z but I'm getting it right now. :D I'll post the results in a few.

Ok. Under 'Max Bandwith' it say PC4300(266MHz). What's that 266 MHz? Don' tell me that's the speed. Isn't that too low? That's not even 400 MHz.
Please somebody clarify that for me.

Yes, thats the correct speed for DDR2 533 memory. The 533,667 are just effective speeds. Since memory these days are capable of transferring data on both the rising and falling edges of the frequency, its effective data transmission is doubled. Hence DDR(double data rate).

    DDR 333 runs at 166MHz
    DDR 400 runs at 200MHz
    DDR2 533 runs at 266MHz
DDR2 667 uns at 333MHz and so on.

Just test again on bandwidth with Sandra "Sisoftware" Result show.

    PC5300 single Cl 4 512mb show 3189mb/s.
PC4200 single Cl 4 256mb original ram from HP show 2989mb/s
PC4200 Dual Cl4 512mb, original ram from HP show 3359mb/s

Will get another 512mb pc5300 to run dual tomorrow. i guess it won't much different from pc4200 to pc5300 since you can tell a single stick result from sisoftware bandwidth. If you can find pc4200 for good deal, I'll go for pc4200. But, the good thing of this dv2000t has auto divider which can auto switch from 266mhz to 333mhz with pc5300 installed, or backward comparable, this is show at Cpu-z.

All right, finally we clear HP's mistake in their online spec. They actually installed 533. We can slightly boost it by changing it to Dual 533. Anyone want to stretch to dual 667? ;)

huh? what do you mean by saying "They actually installed 533. We can slightly boost it by changing it to Dual 533."

    I'm getting confuse here.

Oh, I mean if you only have single channel 533. :)

I think TeK tested single slot 533, if I was right.

I did test on single 533, single 677mhz and Daul 533mhz. I don't have dual 677mhz in hand.

Yes, HP installed 533mhz dual due to they have old 533 instock and want to clear it out i guess. You can upgrade by install dual 677mhz to stretch it out to 3500+mb/s bandwidth

This might sound stupid but somebody could please explain to me what the "PC4200", "PC53000" means? I believe there are different PC####s with the same amount of memory (256MB, 512MB, 1GB). Also, by "single" and "dual" you mean that you had either one or two memory sticks running, right?
I thought I had this clear but the more I read about it the more confuse I get. :)
Also, I thought the speed was the "266 MHz, 333Mhz, etc", if that's the case then what is "3189mb/s, 2989 mb/s, etc"?
    Thanks for any help.

so what would be more beneficial

upgrading to a single 1GB DDR2-667 stick leaving room to upgrade to 2GB
or upgrading to dual 512 DDR2-667 and maxing out at 1GB?
