I already have notebook memory I can use... but if i select vista premium... HP flags an error and won't let me continue unless i downgrade the OS or upgrade the Ram..
does anyone know a way around the Ram?
Thanks for any help!

order by phone, and tell them that you don't want a PC with OS, since if you don't want RAM with it, therefore OS won't install, and therefore tell them you don't want RAM either. Confusing, isn't it?

not confusing at all.. i guess that way I might save on OS as well.. even though I wouldn't mind the vista premium...

I doubt it too, but it's the best option.

Again, I'd call and speak to a real person. You might have to call a couple of times or ask to be transfered to a higher-level CSR. It may not be possible but you won't know until you ask.
If you are forced to purchase memory just buy the bare minimum. Also, you may want to price out memory and Vista to see what will give you the best deal.
Can I buy the notebook without the memory?
