Can I flash my Quanta 3097 to a bios that will recognise my Turion ML-37?

    my V2000 came with a Sempron 3100+

I got a ML-37 off ebay off a seller with 200 perfect reviews so far (so I'm assuming this isn't a bad processor), however when I plug it in and turn on my laptop it just beeps at me, with the DVD drive making noises and blinking and the capslock and scroll lock lights blinking.

I've already flashed the bios to f.52. What I'd like to do is flash to perhaps another bios for another quanta motherboard (for instance the Quanta 3097 47D/E or something Bios) so that it will recognize my ML-37.

    From CPU-z, I've got a Quanta 3097 47.13 with ATI RS480, SB400.

    Thanks.

I don't think your problem is BIOS. Not with that chipset, I think bad CPU. I think the CPU would be recognized regardless of BIOS w/chipset. It supports Turion.

Hm, well so after I posted I went and did the online hp/compaq chat/support thing, told them all my information, and they told me that my notebook only supported Semprons, that I would have to upgrade to a Sempron if I wanted to upgrade to anything. When I asked them if it was specifically my motherboard, they said "your motherboard will not support Turions".

I'm pretty sure they're right about that, because I'm 99.9% sure this CPU is not faulty.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but if this will help someone in the future...

if, you have a v2000 series laptop, you can flash the bios to recognize your ml37 proc.
go here to download bios F.52
I got the same run around as you from hp/compaq, but unlike you, I had a v2552us lappy AND a v2630us lappy to play with.
the '52 had the sempron , and the '30 had an ml34 turion.
the lappys were identical on the outside, and a quick check with sisoft sandra verifided they had the same model motherboards, the quanta 3097.
Like you i was curious if i could upgrade the sempron to a turion and found like you, an ml37 on ebay.
I took the dive and flashed the bios on the v2552us with the v2630us (F.52) bios, installed the proc and 'viola, it booted right up.
