    Can I output using DVI to an LCD monitor with the dv5000?

    do you have a DVI outlet? Does the LCD monitor in question have have a DVI plug? If indeed you have these things, then it is physically possible, but practically posible, porbably not. though perhaps if you are just using it for office apps, ect. There will probably be a lag if you are using it for video and game apps.

    I have S-Video out and VGA ports only. I guess I cannot use DVI?

    You can still use the VGA connector, if you need to connect it to an LCD. However, some displays, particularly large ones, don't have very good quality on VGA. What size is the LCd you intend to use the notebook with?
