I have a DV6707 and would like to know if I can upgrade the processor on this unit to a faster processor with higher cache. I know how to do the work, i've torn my laptops apart in the past...just been out of it for too long to compare the current processor names / specs and sockets. It has a AMD Athlon 64 X 2 TK-57. So can I and what would you suggest?

You should be able to upgrade to the TL-6x, but it won't do much.

    Hi

I have a TL-60 in my dv9565 but it gets very hot and the fan gets quite noisy. currently at 62c just web browsing...

anyway, i think all the Turion X2 series have the same size cache apart from the TL-50 which is halved. Is what you would be getting is extra clock speed up to 2.4Ghz with a TL-68 I think.

I beleive the Turion's have a larger L2 cache, maybe better power saving, virtulization and probably many other improvements over the mobile Athlon.

I would look at amd's website to be sure...

However some TL-60's and all other higher models are 65nm now i think (mine is 90nm) so maybe they run a bit cooler.... just check with HP your motherboard supports the Turion 64 X2 series ect.

    good luck!
