    Hello
I finally got my HP DV5-1157
    This laptops has a 320GB 5400rpm HDD and I plan to upgrade it to a 320GB 7200rpm
The question is, will the recovery discs created by my HP recovery software work if I change the harddrive or will it refuse to work because a hardware component has changed?

Also, will chaning the harddrive void my warranty?

    Thank you

Wakashizuma - Unless MS has changed the algorithm, your recovery disks will work just fine with ONLY the HDD changed. I have done the same thing you are doing twice with H-P desktops - no problem. I'm not sure about the warranty - from what I have heard about H-P - you really don't have much of a warranty anyway. Your best bet is to return it within 21 days if you find a major problem. How do you like your LCD anyway? The dv5's I have seen (only two) have had washed-out colors.... :( Edited to add: I can't prove this, but it looks like MS has relaxed the Vista activation rules sometime in the past few months - I assume via update but I'm not sure. So there may be even less to worry about ref activation.
