I am getting one dv6700t and dont want to use vista, but thats all it comes with... I love XP to core.. I am still using it and want to keep the relationship like this on new laptop too... I dont want to completely format out vista OS.. Can a separate partition be made to put XP on it??

Will XP work smoothly if installed in such a manner?? Any possible drivers issue?? Would the touch sensitive buttons and mouse pad and other hardware work under XP??

Yes you can make other partitions and install any OS you want. And no, it won't make a difference whatsoever as long as you install it properly on a completely separate partition.

But would it be able to use all the hardware like mousepad and IR remote and volume buttons just fine or any driver would need to be installed for those devices??

Obviously you need a driver for whatever you use. Before installing XP visit the HP website and see what drivers they have for your machine for XP.
