How many have heard this from your wife or girlfriends over the years:

"You love your computer more than me!"
You know, spending more time online or whatever than with the wifey.

Well, my HP notebook is saving my marriage! :)
    Don't laugh!!!
    How, you say?
My wife use to say the same things to me, ALL the time, as we don't always watch the same tv shows and I earn my living online, but I figured out a way to solve that problem. Now I spend time with her by putting the notebook next to the couch. If I don't like the same program... no problem, turn on the notebook tv with caption or headphones, (as not to disrupt her sound). Wife is happy now that I'm sitting with her instead of upstairs in the computer room.

    Weird...but I guess it works. :)

I'd say that if there were serious underlying problems something like that wouldn't fix them, but if she just wants you to be near her while you do something completely different, you're fine.

    Yup! I'm a computer addict.

This was more a joke than anything... but there is "some" truth to it too... for an example, I like sat/sun football, she doesn't, so I can check the scores on the notebook. Stuff like that.

I like the stand for the cooling solution :). Yet, the most it can do, I guess, is to prevent your hands from sweating.

    WRONG!!!

I've owned over 20 notebooks the past 20 years and have learned that the fan blowing from the side under the notebook helps cool it, especially in warmer climates.
Why do you think they have stands to lift the back of the notebook for... looks? No cooling, better air flow.

I lived in the Philippines for several years and found my notebook outlasted most other friends notebooks... why, I cooled mine with the side fan, they didn't.

Remember this, heat is what wears down and destroys componets, just like in automobile engines...

What PCMCIA tv tuner card are you using?

And... this will only work as long as she's content to watch television. At some point she'll start to want to go out and actually do things. Take walks. Spend "quality time" with you. ... Trust me, experience talking here.

You've got to learn how to multitask your computer into your chores. For instance, start doing laundary. You get about 30 minutes peaceful computer time between loads. If she gripes, just calmly state "Honey, I'm doing our laundary and I don't want to be too far away when the dryer shuts off so that the clothes won't stay in there and get wrinkled." That one always works. :D

Actually, my wife is a TV addict, so as long as I'm setting next to her, she is happy. We do go out once a week to eat or whatever and I usually leave the computer off on Sundays.

I'm also the cook and I keep the house up. I like things neat... so I do my share. Wifey is happy.
