    Can audio auto switch to digital for HDMI?

    I keep plugging the HDMI cable and start to watch something on TV only to realise I have to turn the laptop monitor back on so I can see what I am doing to switch audio to digital, from speaker setting. (hard to read Windows menus and text on the tv!)
    Is there some setting somewhere to have it auto switch?....detect when HDMI is plugged in.
    This is Realtek sound card on one month old DV9774ca.

    No as far as i know. I want a solution to this too.

    I just let the audio come out of my Logitech Z-4 speakers. Movies sound better with a subwoofer anyway
